Machan Country Villa
Where the Sal forest of the Chitwan jungle meets the wild and beautiful valley of the Rapti river, the world is wild and splendid. Broad grassland sweeps the north to the Mahabharata range and virgin jungle extends to the Churia hills. For centuries the dense jungle bordering on the foothills of the Himalayas formed an impenetrable barrier, keeping Nepal a hidden and mysterious country. The last three decades have seen that barrier breached, but the jungle of the Chitwan National Park remains a world apart. Here the spirit of great explorers and adventurers still lives.
With the opening of Machan Wildlife Resort in 1987 a new chapter was written in adventure and exploration in the Chitwan Jungle.
As I take a stroll down memory lane, I recall the days of adventure and uncertainty back in 1974 when Chitwan National Park was in the course of establishment and wildlife tourism was being introduced. The very first resort in Sauraha and other ventures along the way, my journey brought me to Machan Wildlife Resort.
Nepal has been through a lot of ups and downs since then; and we, the travel industry have weathered many a storm. But it is with the support and trust of our travelers, agents and friends through the good times and the bad that have made it possible for Machan to become a popular brand image for 30 years now!
Tailoring the needs of today’s traveler and picking cues learnt along our journey together from Machan Wildlife Resort to Machan Paradise View, I am pleased to introduce Machan Country Villa! This new destination has been created with your support, encouragement and the belief that when one door closes the other opens!

Machan Country Villa is located 190Km. away from the capital city, Kathmandu.
Machan is easily accessed from Kathmandu, both by road and by flight.
The drive from Kathmandu to Machan (approximately 4.5 hours/ 170 kms) takes you through the middle hills of Nepal and along the Trishuli River, popular with the rafting community of Nepal.
A short 20-minute flight from Kathmandu to the Bharatpur Airport, followed by a 45 minute/ 30 kms drive to the property.
Skilled drivers in air-conditioned sedans or luxury minivans will transfer guests from the closest airports. Please note all road transfers can be booked on request with Machan or through your preferred Nepalese ground handler.
Complementing Machan Wildlife Resort and Machan Paradise View, is the newest Country Villa. Nestled in a quaint village of Gochada, the villa itself is tucked away within the national park and community forest, both known for the incredible flora and fauna.
Built tastefully in a village setting, the villa lies in an area that is home to the one horned rhinoceros, Royal Bengal tiger, leopard, sloth bear, deer and a host of birds and butterflies. It is combined with the comfort of modern amenities, uninterrupted electrical supplies, air conditioned rooms along with our well stocked bar and restaurant which serves both Nepali and Continental cuisines.

Jeep safari is an enthralling and spectacular off-road journey into the jungle. Feel the fresh jungle air on your face while the open top jeep manoeuvres in the deepest of jungle. You might be lucky and be able to spot some breath-taking animal sightings!
The most famous local tribe of Chitwan ‘The Tharus’ perform their cultural stick dance. They are farmers and spend most of their daytime working in the field. During the festivals they gather and enjoy the togetherness with this kind of traditional dancing. The stick dance is one of the most popular among the various other dances. They will show some of their traditional skills and dances during this program.
Out of 519 species of birds we have recorded 276 species in our area. Hence, the area around Machan Country Villa is considered as a paradise for bird watchers. Our guides will help you to identify some of the species of these birds.
